Jazz music, a distinctly American invention, is different from any other types of music. Although the roots of jazz begin in United States, it is now considered to have a fine mixture of African culture enmeshed in it. The four distinct components of jazz music are rhythm, harmony, melody, and tonal qualities. Regardless of your preference for the type jazz, you’ll be able to find a club that caters to your tastes. experimental jazz is one of the more popular styles, with venues popping up all over the world, including many European cities.

One jazz style is called the Work Song. It is upbeat and rhythmically fast because it was used to make the work day go by faster. The Work Song is repeated over and over and isn’t considered a modern form. This jazz tends to be associated with African American music. It’s probably the rhythmic beat that makes it the least popular jazz style today.

New Orleans Jazz is another style that had its beginnings in the early 1890′s American history. It began marching songs and gospel songs used in brass band performances. One of the foremost leaders in this style is the famous bandleader, William Basie, otherwise known for his band, the Count Basie Orchestra. This style of jazz is still popular today.

Chicago jazz came along a bit later, in late 1917. Chicago was the center of jazz around then since musicians were leaving the south because of prohibition. They were also coming north to look for new employment opportunities and find places to play their new form of jazz. During this period the piano became an important background of the jazz experience. This new sound evolved as Chicago Style jazz.

Following World War II, jazz went through another transformation with the introduction of Bebop. Bebop, a fusion of fast tempo and changing rhythmic patterns, creates a softer and lighter sound of jazz. Bebop often highlights a solo performer instead of an entire band.

Jazz is an ever changing type of music that always retains some formation of its roots. Jazz is one style of music that has changed according to different times and the different outlook of the people listening to it. The flexibility of jazz to adapt to these different times and needs is one of the big reasons it is alive and so popular today.

Learning jazz piano is not an easy task. To become a jazz musician you must be able to improvise. You must be able to play by ear, take off in a solo, and play with the group. It is a demanding art form to say the least.

Jazz piano is taught to all ages. It is taught at all levels of difficulty. You should have no trouble finding lessons for your level of skill. If you cannot find lessons locally, look online.

There is a ton of Jazz piano music lessons online. There are systematic tutorials, DVDs, CDs, eBooks, videos and more. Some free, the rest ranging from a couple of dollars to hundreds or more.

If you are brand new to Jazz piano there are many beginner lessons available online for free. These free online tutorials are a way for you to break the ice, get down the basics, and begin on your journey to becoming a jazz pianist. You can build confidence, practice the basics, and start the important core work of improvisation all from the comfort of home.

When you begin your training, you should focus on the technical side of jazz first. Apply this to common jazz songs. As you get better, stronger, and more confident with the technical side, move forward with your own improv. Bring out your creativity and explore your senses.

The most important piece of advice is to embrace your jazz piano lessons, never give up. Keep focused. Have fun with it. If you find yourself getting frustrated, if you find yourself not enjoying your lessons, step back. Figure out what is bothering you. Find a way to make it fun, create excitement, and take the work out of it.

Promotion for up-and-coming jazz bands can be challenging due to competition with other established and popular bands. These bands may also have very limited resources at these beginning stages. One inexpensive but directly effective way for new jazz club bands to promote themselves is the use of printed marketing materials. Examples of these marketing materials include:

Flyers – Flyers can be a quick and easy way to gain publicity for a new, local jazz band. Portraits shots or a graphic symbol of the band can be used as the subjects of the flyers. They can include essential information such as band name, contact information, and other links to band websites or blogs. They can also include a list of regular performance venues, upcoming events, and tours. Bulk orders of flyers can be printed using the services of convenient online printing companies.

Postcards – Postcards can be a creative tool for marketing a new jazz band. Postcards have always been associated with art and can serve as popular promotional materials. They can also serve as free gifts to loyal fans, sponsors, promoters, and club owners. Portrait shots of the band or any symbolic photo can be printed on them. Online printing services offer wholesale orders of postcards at very reasonable and discount prices of up to 30 percent.

Posters – Posters are popular tools for marketing a new jazz band. Posters can feature the band’s image or promotional information on upcoming club performances. Club owners and promoters can print poster campaigns to announce special performances of new bands and other promos for their club. Online poster printing companies can in small quantities using digital printers and large quantities using offset printers at discounted prices.

Jazz is a dying breed of music. Today’s genre of music has drifted from the classics and ran towards rap, pop, and rock and roll. Jazz will never be forgotten though. Jazz music is some of the greatest American music to this day.

Jazz is still popular world wide, but you have to really look in some areas to find what you are looking for. Some times it is just best to go back to where jazz grew up. Get back to the roots of music itself to find some great jazz classics. Kansas City, Boston, and New Orleans are three major cities that pride themselves on their great jazz clubs. At these clubs you can hear live performances of originally made jazz music and live renditions of your favorite jazz artists from the past. Jazz clubs are a great place to have a few drinks and just step into a time machine. Jazz music is music with a soul of its own and gave birth to many new styles of music today.

If you want to hear the live styles of your favorite jazz musicians you can always look up some great jazz stations on your radio. It may not be as great as hearing them live and in person, but you can still hear great live performances from the comfort of your own home. Some of these radio stations can really bring jazz to life and by closing your eyes you can actually feel like you are at a true jazz concert with your favorite oldies.

Jazz is a style of music that really moves people. It is really catchy and great to move your feet to. A lot of major cities in America have areas commemorated to the time of jazz.

Jazz has a lot of heart and will never really die and definitely will never be forgotten. You can find people on corners with their saxophone case open on the sidewalk as people leave donations while they play away the blues.

Jazz will forever go down in history as one of the greatest styles of music ever created. As long as America still knows music jazz clubs will always be around. These clubs have become a shrine to the greats who started jazz and help keep these greats close to the heart of America. So the next time someone asks you, “Where can I hear live jazz music?” You can say, “Just around the corner.”
